Beryl is quite interesting. As a very fancy window manager, to be used in conjunction with a Desktop Environment, such as KDE, GNOME, or XFCE, I agree. However, if I were going to use just a window manager, then I would not go with Beryl. In that case, I would choose either the winner, Fluxbox, or as a flexible, easy alternative, IceWM. Reasons: fast, lightweight flexibility combined with maturity.
