Ratpoison. My .Xdefaults provides the eye candy :P

I Have to go with fluxbox. Very simple and the menu system is not as cluttered as Gnome's or KDE's panel. Still Gnome and KDE are nice because they come with every program under the sun that can get the task done.

What about IceWM, I find it extremely cool and intuitive. Some eyecandy works as well. Quick, beautiful and usable. The best!
|
...hmm - what about fvwm-crystal?
...I voted for Fluxbox - but my really favourite is Fvwm-Crystal - fvwm made easy and beautiful - and nearly as light as Fluxbox! (great integration with MPD, too...)
best friendly regards and wishes for the New Year, tami:) |
FVWM2 is teh king!
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but mine is that FVWM2 still kicks ass in simplicity! Not saying that FVWM2 is the best, but it still holds after all these years! |
Beryl rocks!

I vote for Compiz. I thought "nothing big, just an eye candy" before I used it, but my opinion changed as soon as I had the opportunity to try it. Scale plugin is simply awesome.
In my opinion Beryl is just some more eye candy when compared to Compiz, so the vote goes to the latter. |
KWin because I'm always using KDE.
Tried Beryl/Compiz and loved it, but it got old and distracting and just became an unnecessary waste of resources not to mention that it's quite buggy and crashes often. It's good for fun, but not for everyday computing. I use it like I use Frozen Bubble, occasionally when I am bored. |
compiz almighty! :D

After many hours of web-searching and asking, asking, and trying, and asking and trying again, I've finally managed to run AIGLX on my Mandriva 2007. Althought till now I have some problems with it, my vote goes to compiz, because it impressed me.

Beryl or Kwin, mostly Kwin.
|
Would have voted for fvwm2, but Enlightenment is the way to go....
|
Beryl and Emerald a great combination.

Beryl The King!

OMG where are all the icewm fans?
I install icewm on all my servers. It uses SO LITTLE memory, less than flux and fvwm. And, you can customize it to look like practically ANY OTHER window manager (or desktop gui for that matter). I tend to make it look like gnome, add some gnome/gtk+ apps to it, but still make all servers boot to command prompt (no gui). |
