apart from gimp , which is a "traditional super weight" ... i i just found out that krita is quite good ... not sure about the point of it while we already have gimp(which is faster in comparision on my machine) but i have to say that krita is awsome ...

//also , whats amaze me is that krita makes sound when i close it ... truly amazing ...

It has to be Inkscape, i tend to use gimp and inkscape together but i hate gimp's interface, it should be more like inkscape's

For working on photos now I use digiKam instead of GIMP. GIMP too long stay in place, no usable CMYK, but is good enought.

Well, I use Inkscape for all my graphics work, so I vote for Inkscape (0.45 is out ;)

Gimp is all I need for authoring graphics or for retouching pictures.

I am still a big fan of Gimp, but development seems a bit too quiet these days.

This is a tough one that I don't feel god about voting on. With cxoffoce I could run MS aps but for image editing it's always gimp, for desktop publishing its always scribus. Inkscape is now the prefered graphics tool for one user in our home but I must say that Kidpix was a must have when that person was younger.

The people involved with all of these aps should get 1st place recognition AFAIAC.

gimp

I use gimp for any image manipulation I have to do. It works great.

The poll was missing:
  1. XaraXtreme
  2. Cinepaint
  3. Pixel
  4. several others
Not thorough enough of a poll to really show what is out there. Imaging in Linux has come a long way.

Kouler Paint is the best Paint ever. Gimp is the Open Source Photoshop, but I dont need a Photo Editor. I need a paint! :D

Krita improved.

Krita.
GIMP is ok. But for web graphics and development KRITA works pretty well.
