mplayer plays everything...but in my opinion its weak in the dvd playback area. This is the best firefox plugin available IMO http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/ . I think if their was an xine plugin for firefox that integrates into the webpage as mplayerplug-in, I may switch to xine.
There was a xin-mozilla-plugin that did that, but wasn't as feature rich or easy to use as mplayer's. Had constant crashes and usually took down Firefox with it, so mplayer-plugin is still better.
