mplayer is great!!!

abilash 02-01-2006 06:24 AM

Nothing can be better than ToTem.MPlayer hangs many times.

kule 02-01-2006 08:51 AM

Mplayer plays everything, nice look, but I don't like the DVD playback and the subtitles.
On the other hand Xine has a much better DVD playback and subtitles, but I don't like the look.
Vote goes to Mplayer.

Lunar_Lamp 02-01-2006 09:10 AM

Kaffeine all the way for me.

bulliver 02-01-2006 12:09 PM

I always voted for mplayer before, but I have been having problems with it for the last little while, so I've changed my allegiance to xine. Still, I'm sure I will use both, but I am using xine more these days...

floydking 02-01-2006 12:14 PM

Mplayer seems the most versatile.

cormack 02-01-2006 12:42 PM

Mplayer all the way. it can play every video format out there

petern2 02-01-2006 03:20 PM

I would have voted for Kaffeine in this category

tizzef 02-01-2006 04:07 PM

MPlayer for sure

Isle 02-02-2006 08:41 AM

Mplayer.

A lot of codecs and a lot of skins.

You can vote for the backend, XINE is the default and GStreamer is available in kaffeine

But totem has a soundgraph for audio that uses the fast fourier transform. Really great!

It also does a variety of movies well.

darkhatter 02-03-2006 11:51 AM

xine is the easiest to compile (that could just be me ) and it also supports the most formats (once again that could just be me )

and I also appears to be the one found in most distro :D

anti.corp 02-03-2006 11:53 AM

Totem! Really easy to use and stable too.

jeremy 02-03-2006 01:26 PM

Kaffeine will not be added this year as it's really just a front end. That being said, by next year I think there will be a significant enough number of multimedia frontends that they may require a dedicated category.
