mplayer is great!!!
Nothing can be better than ToTem.MPlayer hangs many times.
Mplayer plays everything, nice look, but I don't like the DVD playback and the subtitles.
On the other hand Xine has a much better DVD playback and subtitles, but I don't like the look. Vote goes to Mplayer. |
Kaffeine all the way for me.
I always voted for mplayer before, but I have been having problems with it for the last little while, so I've changed my allegiance to xine. Still, I'm sure I will use both, but I am using xine more these days...
Mplayer seems the most versatile.
Mplayer all the way. it can play every video format out there
I would have voted for Kaffeine in this category
MPlayer for sure
Mplayer.
A lot of codecs and a lot of skins. |

But totem has a soundgraph for audio that uses the fast fourier transform. Really great!
It also does a variety of movies well. |
xine is the easiest to compile (that could just be me ) and it also supports the most formats (once again that could just be me )
and I also appears to be the one found in most distro :D |
Totem! Really easy to use and stable too.

Kaffeine will not be added this year as it's really just a front end. That being said, by next year I think there will be a significant enough number of multimedia frontends that they may require a dedicated category.
