Midnight Commander is very full featured (and quite similar to Norton commander used in other OS's). emelfm2 seems to me to be a more "guified" (is that even a word?) version of mc. It is also quite powerful. Gentoo (the file manager not the distro) is also quite useful.
If you're like me and often create a ton of
similarly named files and/or directory structures at the same
time, you want stuff that only a good shell can offer (BASH) .
nautilus seemed OK for the windows switch-over, prior
to learning BASH.
