Sorry, if somebody posted this already, (didn't read through all 500 posts). But there are also mods for UT2004 that just work too. Like Red Orchestra, and Frag Ops. There is also Airbuccaneers, (though I didn't test this one, just heard it worked).
Anyway with these mods who cares about Counterstrike, and IMO Red Orchestra is what the Medal of Honor series (in Multiplayer) should have been.
So my meager vote goes to Unreal Tournament 2004...
My favorite is NWN, but as it's older than 2004 I didn't consider it - I hope it was game of the year when it came out. I'll have to check on that. I recently got Doom 3 and it's been amazing me and scaring the crap out of me ever since. However, as mentioned previously, Epic has been so good I gotta give them the edge over Doom 3. So it was UT2004 for me.
I've seen that no one voted for Halo 2 yet. It'd seriously better stay that way.
I haven't tried the games in the list though. I've only seen Doom 3 in action (well... screenshots and very short fragments). It looked great, but I know too less of it to vote for it.
