"unable to find device node for /dev/x in /dev!" during install


hey all,
decided to give freebsd 5.2 a try, everything runs smoothly untill after i select what packages i want to install in sysinstall. once it goes to write my new partitions it prints:

unable to find device node for /dev/x in /dev! the creation of filesystems will be aborted

any ideas? thanks inadvance
