Removing unwanted locales

Is there a tool in FreeBSD 6.1 that I can use to be rid of locales that I have no use for? Or do I have to manually remove them one by one from /usr/X11R6/share/locale? Is there anything that I can set anywhere such as /etc/make.conf to ensure that future upgrades and/or installation of other new packages will not install locales other that are of no use to me?
