Question Removable media problems under FreeBSD

I'm having "trouble" with my parport zip drive and my USB compact flash reader.... The trouble is that unless I boot with some media present (I.E. zip disk in the drive, or CF card in the reader) I do not get the proper entries in /dev to allow me to mount them. The USB reader can be worked around by unplugging it and plugging it back in with CF card present (this is not an ideal solution for many reasons). After I've got the entries, I can swap media all I want, but it is pretty lame to have to dig my only zip disk out of my backpack every time I boot on the rare chance that I might need to use it sometime during this session. Or worse, reboot the computer just to use the stupid thing. There has got to be a way to tell the system to save the settings for these devices so that I do not have to do this, but Google wasn't turning up much for me except sites that say this is how FreeBSD works. Any hints or clues, or am I out of luck?

Micah

I found a solution by googling devfs zip drive (shows what using appropriate keywords will do for you), basically entering "true > /dev/da0" with a zip disk in the dirve will cause the system to rescan the device creating the missing node.
