I know I'm not supposed to do this but meh

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=294566

That should explain a lot. I'm having lots of trouble with my BSD and it's pretty urgent, the *BSD Forum is dead right now, too. If you could come up with an answer through that link please reply, thanks.

Please keep in mind that LQ is a 100% volunteer effort and as such, posting here does not guarantee an answer. If an issue is really and truly urgent I would encourage you to contact a Linux consulting firm for assistance. Wish I could offer better help but good luck with it -- J.W.

lmao, my attitude sucks? Come on, I was typing this from a freakin library by my house. I was eagerly awaiting an answer and I just got a bit impatient. I screwed up on my part by posting at the Newbie forum but don't say my attiude sucks when it does not. I really hate power hungry mods. I will leave here if need be, I do not want to be pushed around.

Again I must "lmao" when I look at your sig, you asking for an affero when you completely acted like an asshole. That's like punching someone and then asking for 50 dollars, what an idiot. Look, I don't care about you merging the posts, just don't give me crap about my attitude because I did not act like a complete jerkoff.

There - I said what I said. Flame if need be, but I think I'm right.

Let's cool off here a little :-) .... and see if the user's question can be answered. I don't know the answer, though I can see too much uneccessary tension is building up over such a trivial thing.

http://www.linuxquestions.org/rules.php

Please adhere to those rules - this wouldn't have happend otherwise, or? Don't take anything here personally :-)

Hello Mr. Hill. I have read your other thread, and I wish I could tell you I had a solution, but I do not.

I do have a recommendation though. When you are in a real tough jam and need help right away, I have found IRC to be a pretty good resource since it is real time. These forums are a wonderful source of information, so it is easy to expect too much from them. Have you tried bsdforums.org? You might find your answer there too. It has a section for each of the various BSDs. It has helped me a time or two. Good luck on solving this problem.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll check out the BSD Forums too. Sorry if I kinda blew up there but eh, I'll try to keep it civil.

This thread reminds me of an email I got from a user of some software I develop. It was a big list of "bugs" (which were really new feature requests). I neglected to reply until I could think about it and see if there were any I really wanted to do.

Within 48 hours I had another email from this user in much distress because I had "completely ignored" his first email and was "neglecting my users" and more things like this ... I replied with something to the effect of

Quote:
Dear idiot user,

... How much are you paying me for support again? Oh, that's right...
What's the saying about gift horses? Why do people bitch when the free services they use don't preform like they expect them to?

Can I just say that the support here is as good as licensed paying customers of a large database company with a greek name get.
I know because I work with them.

Rules apply to anyone, at all times. The fact that you believe
your "special situation" warrants an exemption is irrelevant to
me (or others on the boards).

Of course you would ... and if you continue in that tone you
may well earn yourself a ban real soon.

My decision and my comment were completely in place, and
within the rules (which, btw, I didn't make but accept; and feel
that they make LQ a great place for the majority of users. Of
course, that may not be so for egotistical self-centered "special"
people who need special treatment.

Tink

I've accepted defeat and said I was sorry for blowing up yet you keep pushing me. What are you trying to pull? I don't want to debate with you, just get off my back and we'll call it fair.

I am *now* abiding by the rules, I do not believe that I deserve special treatment. A ban? Funny you should mention that because I have been to countless forums saying countless things worse than what I have said above yet I have never received an IP ban, nor a global ban.

You're the kind of person that thinks you are superior to everyone else. You have a near 10,000 posts and I have a near 200, does that make you a better person than I am or something? Does that give you a right to push me around?

When you look at the both of us I think we are both equally acting immature here. We can both insult eachother until our wrists ache from typing and it won't do us any good. Let's put an end to all of this. Yet if you still continue to give me a hard time I will consider you to be a very foolish person.

I have accepted my defeat. Just stop this madness.

Where? In saying "Meh, I know I shouldn't"? Coming
back to your fine example ... that's like "I know I shouldn't
be doing this, but I'll punch you in the face anyway!"

Yeah, right. You ignore the rules KNOWINGLY
and insult the people who're trying to maintain
the board in a tidy fashion.

Heh - you ARE too funny, hope your parents enjoy
your attitude, too. You owe me at least an apology,
and maybe an edit of your post taking the insults out.

I haven't insulted you, btw, I told of you off for an
obvious wrong-doing. If you consider that an insult
I assume you'd also abuse a cop who gets you for
drunk driving. As far as I'm concerned this is the
end of the "discussion", there really was/is nothing to
discuss.

Cheers,
Tink

Ummm, Tinkster, perhaps you could alert people in private of their violations.

Otherwise wise it seems more like the "ruler" & "peasant" role. Where you make a "public display" of the wrong doer. I don't think it makes people respect you. Instead, I think it makes them distrust you.

You are supposed to be looked up to as a moderator. People expect you to have a little mercy and understanding with those beneath you. Arguing makes you appear to be... well, to say it nicely, knuckleheaded.

In a dispute, you have the power. We all know it. You should never ever ever have to say more than a polite correction. People will understand. If they don't -> again, you have the power.

Now, as I said before. Mr Hill, are you still having a bootloader problem?
