Ghostscript starting problem

Hi folks,

FreeBSD 5.2

Ghostscript has been installed together with the OS.

# pkg_info | grep ghostscript
ggv2-2.4.0.2 GNOME 2 ghostscript viewer
ghostscript-gnu-7.07_4 GNU Postscript interpreter

# which gs
/usr/local/bin/gs

But it could not be started

# gs

Are you running your xwindows as root? If not switch to the user that is running xwindows and try again...

Hi Stack,

I got it, starting gs on Konsole window, KDE desktop.

gs must be started as USER

Tks

One further questions. Where can I find examples using command line on 'gs' to create ebook from .pdf files. I could not find it on google search.

Well all this says to me is "wrong user that user does not have an open xwindows." Perhaps you where SU as root when you tried to start it in the konsole? # usually means root well in most shells it does.

If you still cant get it to work try the freebsdforums.org a couple port maintainers and developers hag there and might have had the same problem. Hopefully it is user error though :|
