Question freebsd 8.0-RC1 geli encrypted root over gstripe raid-0 install possible?

trying to do a fresh install of freebsd 8.0RC1 on a server with 3 scsi hard drives. i would like to stripe raid-0 style via software gstripe. the root + swap will be encrypted via geli and i will leave an unencrypted boot folder on another slice. i've been telling myself this will work but i'm beginning to wonder if i have wandered down a path that leads to nowhere. my background is mainly in linux but i'm familiar with freebsd just enough to be dangerous. i've had no problems in the past with 'standard' freebsd installs even on this same server, though i never wandered off the sysinstall path as i am attempting now.

i've been putting this all together based on the disparate info at the following pages:
http://www.wanda25.de/geli.html
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO...-striping.html
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?q...0cfg&sektion=8

after combining this info, the drives are striped, the encrypted / and unencrypted /boot are ready, all the base+kernel files are manually installed from cd1, i reboot and can get to the freebsd boot manager prompt, hit F1 but get only '#' repeatedly with no kernel loading.

before i get my serial console hooked up to paste the exact messy details of what i've done so far, my first questions are simply is this even possible and if so is there anything not immediately obvious from these two guides that may be hindering the effort?

thanks for any help

after stepping back and taking a deep breath, i think i figured out my own solution .. i neglected to migrate /boot out of the raid0 stripe which understandably has left bios scratching its head. will mark this as solved upon verification later.

thanks
