FreeBSD 5.3. Some questions about kernel and X

Installed FreeBSD 5.3 on P266/64Mb ram/8Gb HDD/8Mb ATI RAGE

trying to configure X

$ X -configure

XfEnableIO: failed to open /dev/io

trying to set different options to /dev/io with chmod didn't help

then, I need to recompile kernel with some options.

$ make depend

pxe.c:40:17: net.h: No such file or directory pxe.c:41:19: netif.h: No such file or directory

(same with nfsv2.h, iodesc.h, bootp.h)

mkdep: compile failed *** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/src/sys/boot/i386/libi386 *** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/src/sys/boot/i386/ *** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/src/sys/boot *** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/src/sys/ *** Error code 1

Trying to compile kernel with GENERIC config gives the same errors.

Googling didn't help
What's wrong?
