Clean install of FreeBSD 4.9 on....

I need to do a clean install of BSD 4.9 on a Promise SuperTrak SX6000. How do I go about getting the kernel to recognize it so I can do the install.

I have installed many times on IDE channels but never on a RAID card.

Thanks in advance.
