I have Linux Mandrake 9 set up as a PDC for Win9x and WinXP pro machines. I am using samba v2.2.7.
Sometimes when I login from Win XP everything works perfect (drives mapped etc.) but other time could be waiting for up to 5mins for profiles to load from the server. Very frustrating.
Any ideas out there?
I had a the same problem logging onto a win2k server with XP pro. It was with all the XP machines. It ended up being a dns problem. Try adding a static route to the lmhost file for your pdc..

(Forgive the basic level of the question but anything I have learned about linux & networking has been self learned so there are many gaps in my knowledge
