unixODBC

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with a few questions and maybe help resolve an issue. I am using freeBSD 6 and mysql 5.1.12-beta.

I have unixODBC installed and I am trying to install myodbc from ports but continually get an error of no rule to target makefile when running make install. So my first question would be, do I need the myodbc driver at all to create a DSN; if not, great how can I create one? If so, does anyone know what that error would relate to?

In /usr/local/etc I have a odbcDataSources folder but it is empty. I also see odbc.ini and odbcinst.ini and they are empty as well.

Many thanks for helping me clear this up.
