Trying to get acroread3 to work, Font server error

i'm trying to get acroread3 working on my FBSD 4.6-RELEASE box so I can view some .pdf files. when i run:

/usr/locla/Acroread3/bin/acroread

i get:

Unable to initialize the Font Server.
Exited with error code: 0x400e0009.

i really need this to work, anyone know how to fix this?
