Spam problems...

Recently we aquired a new domain from another ISP, just to host their website. We host the website on our FreeBSD server, and now someone is apparently spamming through the domain. Someone is sending emails, for example, from "risingstocks@domain.com" and many other different email addresses. This is becoming a major problem and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on how to lock the domain down, so that someone can not do that. Apparently the return address goes to our www@mydomain.com (World Wide Web owner) email address, so I'm not sure if that helps at all. We are running FreeBSD 4.11 with Exim 4.xx.

Any suggestions would be helpful

Thanks

Hi,

There's nothing you can do about this AFAIK, because they're just spoofing their email address to look like the emails are coming from an account on your website. You can try checking the email headers for any useful information which might possibly give you the spammer's IP address, and then report the spammer to his ISP. That's about all I can think of...

Hope it works out.
