PPP w/ DSL problems - urgent!!

I'm running FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE.
I RTFM'd and figured out how to get ppp to talk to my DSL modem via PPPoE and get me connected to my ISP.
That was 3 months ago.
Just recently, it stopped working.
I plugged my Win98 box into the DSL modem to see if it was a problem on my ISP's side.
Win98 box talked and connected just fine without any problems.
Turned on debugging in ppp and tried to dial.
This is what I got:

ppp ON oak> dial
tun0: Command: /dev/ttyv1: dial
tun0: Phase: bundle: Establish
tun0: Phase: deflink: closed -> opening
tun0: Debug: List of netgraph node ``dc0:'' (id 2) hooks:
tun0: Debug: Found orphans -> ethernet
tun0: Debug: Connecting netgraph socket .:tun0 -> [4]::tun0
tun0: Debug: Sending PPPOE_CONNECT to .:tun0
tun0: Debug: Found the following interfaces:
tun0: Debug: Index 1, name "rl0"
tun0: Debug: Index 2, name "dc0"
tun0: Debug: Indec 3, name "lp0"
tun0: Debug: Index 4, name "lo0"
tun0: Debug: Index 5, name "tun0"
tun0: Phase: deflink: Connected!
tun0: Phase: deflink: opening -> dial
tun0: Chat: deflink: Dial attempt 1 of 1
tun0: Phase: deflink: dial -> carrier
tun0: Debug: Waiting for carrier
ppp ON oak> tun0: Debug: Waiting for carrier
tun0: Debug: Waiting for carrier
tun0: Debug: Waiting for carrier
tun0: Debug: Waiting for carrier
tun0: Phase: deflink: Disconnected!
tun0: Phase: deflink: carrier -> hangup
tun0: Debug: deflink: Close
tun0: Phase: deflink: Connect time: 5 secs; 0 octets in, 0 octets out
tun0: Phase: deflink: 0 packets in, 0 packets out
tun0: Phase: total 0 bytes/sec, peak 0 bytes/sec on Mon Aug 25 23:03:19 2003
tun0: Phase: deflink: hangup -> closed
tun0: Debug: route_IfDelete (5)
tun0: Phase: bundle: Dead

It LOOKS like ppp isn't registering a "carrier detect" from the DSL modem. But I'm not sure.

Can anyone help me shed some light on this, please? I've been without 'net connection for going on a week and all my mail is beginning to back up.

Thanks,
-Mike
