Question OpenBSD virtualization

An interesting article on undeadly.org about virtualization on OpenBSD. Does anyone know if there's a timeline for providing Linux or Windows virtual machines on OpenBSD? Just curious.

No timeline, even for other BSDs, though both FreeBSD and NetBSD have been tested according to Mike Larkin's presentation from bhyvecon.

Two items of note, today:
  • VM kernels are loaded by the hypervisor, not by a bootloader. These must be monolithic ELF.
  • VMs are not provided with graphics devices. The guest OS must support serial console operations.

Thanks for the reply, jggimi. I appreciate that.

If you're interested in how it all works, I wrote a short howto-ish blog about setting up a guest.
