i've heard that there are no OpenBSD drivers for nvidia graphic cards because nvidia does not release the specs and OpenBSD is all about non proprietary software. that's good
. what's not so good is that i've got a nvidia graphic card (GeForce FX 5200) plus a LCD display from Belinea (o.display 22"). the display has exactly one resolution at which the image is sharp and this is 1680x1050.
there's a driver included in OpenBSD called "nv" which Xorg automatically uses since it detected my nvidia card. problem is it doesn't work on a resolution bigger than 1024x768. i've edited xorg.conf but the mode i need is not supported it seems. i've tried it with 1280x960; no luck either. the logs list many modes but not the one i need. i wouldn't mind a smaller resolution but LCD displays look crapy with the wrong one
. what else can i try?
i've also noticed that there is a nvidia driver for FreeBSD. can i use the FreeBSD driver or are FreeBSD and OpenBSD not compatible in this respect (what about binaries like "opera")?
thanks in advance :::
