OpenBSD MySQL port

I'm trying to build MySQL from the port tree in /usr/ports. I run:

# make install

from inside the directory, and I get several screens of promising looking output, but then it fails with this:

>>> START PASTED TEXT <<<

===> mysql-client-4.0.20 depends on: gmake-3.80 - not found
===> Verifying install for gmake-3.80 in devel/gmake
===> Installing gmake-3.80 from /usr/ports/packages/i386/all/gmake-3.80.tgz

>>> END PASTED TEXT <<<

gmake already exists in /usr/local/bin/gmake. Why doesn't it know that it's already there, and why does it barf when it tries to overwrite it?

I also got this gmake error with the last port I tried to install, bzip2.

What gives? I can find other references to this problem online, but no answers are forthcoming.

Anyone know anything?

Look in /var/db/pkg to see if a gmake port is already installed. You may need to uninstall it with pkg_delete so that the new version can be built and installed correctly. You can test the pkg_delete operation with the -n flag to see what it will do prior to actually removing the files. Read the man page for more information.

Hmm, what version of OpenBSD are you using and how recently did you update your ports tree? It's possible that your userland is out-of-sync with the ports tree and that's what's causing the problem.
