need some help with free bsd

Guys like i said in previous post i installed freesbie to my laptop harddrive after i tried the live cd jesus am i impressed i have been using linux [various flavours] for the past 3 years and am astonished that i have not tried freebsd before
anyway the xfce4 desktop runs great thats all i want all the apps i need are there but here is my initial problem

I always used gtk-gnutella with linux when i downloaded the port collection i tried to install with pkg_add then i got hit with loads of dependancies can someone explain i thought by using ports i could install all depends ect.

also lobstaer comes with it and i would gladly use it except that it does not appear to connect can someone point me to how i can configure it to work?

again i am totally blown away by the speed and the usability of this distro !!!!

You should not get problems with dependencies and ports... do this:

cd /usr/ports/net/gtk-gnutella-0.95
make install clean

it should download and compile all dependencies. That will take a while. pkg_add is used to install pre-compile packages and thus faster, specially if you are installing KDE(or any other big guns) with a slow system. Other then that, I'd always go with make install clean .

P.S: the above path may be wrong, if so is the case, use the search command to locate a port:

# cd /usr/ports
# make search name=gtk-gnutella
