mouse problems with FreeBSD

Hey everyone,

I recently installed FreeBSD and X and KDE on my laptop

now whenever i run startx (which automatically boots up)KDE, the mouse on my laptop runs really really slow, like it drags across the screen really slow. Yet when i exit out of X, it works fine. Do any of you have any idea how to fix this issue? I would like my mouse to work efficiently in KDE, just like how it works outside of X.

Also how do i configure FreeBSD so that whenever it boots up it goes straight to KDE and logins in using KDM or something, instead of going to the command prompt, forcing me to type startx?

i thank you all in advance

I have

Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "auto"
Option "Device" "/dev/sysmouse"
Option "Model" "intellimouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
EndSection

as my mouse in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Maybe its something your missing in there.

IIRC, KDE has a visual gizmo that will let you configure your mouse including speed and acceleration. I would guess there is some kind of preferences menu. Did you try that?

Cheers--
