ok got 5.3-release installed fluxbox working tried to install latest dillo 084 no go so not in ports or remote so I try to install dillo082 from ports select make and I get the time is in the future change your clock but I CANT because the bios is not accessable so what to do?? also is there a way to get pkg_add to install from ports rather than remote??
I am having a real hard time deciphering what you are trying to say. Frequently, when asking a question, it is best to take the time clearly organize your ideas and use punctuation to make them clear.
Are you saying:
# cd /usr/ports/www/dillo && make install clean
ok I cant use make for anything because it states all files are in the future and I should change my clock...however I cant change my clock because the bios is not accessable...so am I correct in assuming that I will not be able to use ports because it relies on make??
That should not make a difference. You should be able to change the system date.
If you honestly can't change the date you have bigger problems then installing ports. You should be running your system with the correct date at all times.
If you are running an old Compaq then I assume that the Bios was on the hard drive. Compaq used to put the Bios, or at least part of it on a little sector of the hard drive. When you wiped the drive and installed Unix you lost the Bios. Is that what happened?
Go to Compaq's web site and see if you can find the Bios and a flash utility to re-install it.
