login incorrect. HELP!!

After booting until login: , i typed the correct username and password but it prompt Login incorrect. I can only login as root but not my account. Why? I didn't edit any conf files. Is it concern about account expired? But my username dir still in /home.

Please help me URGENT.

Hello,

Have you been able to login at all with the account? Was the password set or is it empty?

Login as root,

type

Code:

passwd USERNAME
and reset the password. When you created the account you could have created it with an empty password or just left it blank.

in the terminal
The command abc# passwd return : No such user.
That's weird because terminal shows abc#, which mean abc is already login and if i type passwd abc(it wouldn't recognize?) so return :No such user

The abc account is under group wheel and after i login as root the terminal is like this abc# .
But previously, i can login as abc and the terminal appear as $ and i can su to abd# . But it doesn't work for now. It seems that abc account still logging in so it doesn;t recognize user abc? Now I can only login as root. How do i recover to the previous situation?

Problem fixed. I create another account with same username as previous account.
But i don't understand system deleted my previous account. Any can explain this?
Or my previous account expired??
