Would the newest version of it run on a computer with 350 mhz p2 and 176 of ram, but still be fast enough to use with KDE? How can I find out the KDE system requirements for any system? I have searched kde.org and freebsd.org. I did not find anything that helped for that.

yes KDE would run, albeit quite slow. I would probably recommend fluxbox, IceWM, or WindowMaker...

yes. you also can check out freebsd.org for a list of packages. There are much less packages than there are ports. But ports you have to compile, and on a slower machine, that kind of stuff is better left for overnight processes.

If you are serious about learning FreeBSD, you really should read the handbook too. It's an excellent source of documentation. I know a lot of Linux doc's are not very comprehensive, but FreeBSD(all the BSD's actually) have excellent documentation. Once you really understand BSD in it's similarities and fifferences with Linux, you will learn to either love it or hate it. Usually love it though ;)

I've got FreeBSD on a P11 350 192MB RAM,2 UDMA33 6GB HDs. Also have it on a Celeron 400.
I've got KDE and Fluxbox on the PII.
KDE does run fine on it but slow. So I use Flux on it most of the time. If you want the big heavy KDE on it, it will run without any problems but Firefox for example will take about 20 seconds to load first instance. Evolution will load too eventually. :) Open Office your probably not going to be willing to wait for. Konqueror as a file manager will open the directory tree eventually. Running BSD-KDE on a PII is about like win 98 used to run on one, although a lot more stable.

If you were to run Fluxbox, Sylpheed, Nedit, Rox, Xmix, AbiWord, Xclipboard, Xcalc, Xnview, etc. you wont mind using the machine. It'll be a older but nice to use machine. The Celeron, it's slow even with Flux, but usable if that's all you had.
