How to recover my Windows XP (NTLDR-missing)?

I installed Windows XP sucessfully on one of the partition of my hard disk(containing 4 partition, 20GB hard disk). After that, I boot from FreeBSD CD, to install FreeBSD, on one of free partition. Install was successful, but when I reboot my system, I cannot boot with Windows XP choice, it says NTLDR-Missing. FreeBSD run fine!!!
How to recover my Windows XP, without reinstalling again. I am posting this message while my system is booted by, live Knoppix CD!! Thanks KNOPPIX!!! Live Long!!!

ive had similar problems

i'm guessing you changed your partition arrangement (active partitions etc) and while your boot menu does include windows xp as a choice and knows where it resides, windows xp isn't aware of the partition change you made.

i recommend that you redo your order of installations with windows xp as the second installation, seeing that it is so picky about where it is installed.

since most boot menus aren't pretty, who cares if you have a winxp boot menu before you start up your BSD.

Going strictly from memory, I believe you have to use Windows XP menu to boot FreeBSD or Linux. To recover windows xp, it might be similar to this: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=218780

I was able to get Windows XP to dual boot by installing Windows XP first, then installing Linux and using GRUB to point to the Windows XP partitiion as well as the Linux one. Of course, I haven't booted up XP in months.

uhm... i had a simmilar problem once.. i cant remember excactly what fixed it though... i think i fixed the mbr from the xp recovery console, this however only allow you to boot into xp, so you will need to reinstall the freebsd bootloader.. anyway... to fix the mbr; boot from xp cd, wait, press R when asked, press enter (quickly) to change keymap, then type fixmbr on the command line... now you just boot the freebsd cd and reinstall the bootloader... if this doesnt work you will have "rescue" winXp.. i think you press F2 in the beginning of cd boot.. or wait and see if there is a choice where you can press R for Recovery console... hope this helped!
