freebsd driver nouveau

I'm a Linux user, I'd like to move to *BSD world..... I'm going to install FreeBSD on my laptop.

I got driver nouveau for my video card on my Linux distro.... is nouveau available for FreeBSD?

Thanks in advance.

No. You'll have to use the proprietary blob driver with FreeBSD.

Don't bother with NetBSD, there is some work going on with regards to porting nouveau, but it's a work in progress I believe.

There is no support in OpenBSD or DragonFly BSD.

According this wiki https://wiki.freebsd.org/DriDrivers I should install x11/nvidia-driver. Right?

That appears to be out of date documentation and is stated as such.

Have a look in x11/ there will probably be a few versions. Just find the best version for your GPU and read the documentation for the port.

Nouveau was being worked on but the project stalled and has been dormant for some time now. There were problems with porting the Linux based KMS driver code and Mesa still has a few problems.

For now, it's recommended to use the Nvidia OEM driver.
