freebsd and wireless

ok so i have successfully installed latest distro of free bsd on this really old toshiba laptop that I have. Everything works fine except i cannot enable wep on it. I can connect to the net through the wireless card(well i can ping other ip's on my net) if the encryption is disabled at my router. however if i enable the encryption and then try to set the wepkey in the os it tells me that the string is to long. any ideas?

OK, what does your string look like? IOW, what is the command you are using to set the wep key?

Cheers--
