I've already rebuilt my 3 FreeBSD laptops from scratch with FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE and things are running smoothly.

I'm on one now.

Two are amd64 and one i386. No problems on any of them.

wow. Now replace your Android with FreeBSD ? It could be actually possible, since it is a armhf/arm.

Maybe for you, I've never owned a smartphone.

I don't think it's possible to replace Android on these locked down proprietary vendor devices. The devices using arm chips is really irrelevant. It's well nigh impossible to install your own Linux (as intended of course).
