I am wanting to use fluxbox as my wm over a vnc connection(if there is a difference). It is installed.
whereis fluxbox
fluxbox: /usr/X11R6/bin/fluxbox /usr/X11R6/man/man1/fluxbox.1.gz /usr/ports/x11-wm/fluxbox
I have used both just exec fluxbox and full path.
ee .xinitrc
exec /usr/X11R6/bin/fluxbox
Everytime I connect I get twm as my wm. Any ideas?

So there is a difference, many thanks. :] If I would have paid attention I would have seen that, nice .vnc folder sitting right above my .xinitrc file.
