The install ISOs seem to be freely available from pcbsd.org. Are you trying to get them to ship you a free CD (as I've heard Ubuntu does)?

I'm also on dialup,..and downloading a Linux distro or BSD ISO is out-of-the-question for me. Even Ubuntu has stopped sending out the free CDs by Shipit. What I usually do, is (for a small fee) use one of the reputable on-line Linux CD stores. Most of the more well-known distros have their own stores (such as Debian, Vector, Slackware, Puppy Linux,..etc. etc.). Then there are others. I have dealt successfully with:
http://www.linuxcdshop.com/
http://www.linuxcd.org/
http://on-disk.com/
http://www.frozentech.com/
http://www.electrodisc.com/
They ask for a small fee, plus shipping costs. They aren't really charging you anything at all for the free (FOSS) software. What they are charging for, is the cost of burning a CD for you,..and shipping it to you. If you are on dialup,..it might be the only way to go.

I'm on dial-up and have downloaded 7.1 using a bit-torrent client. It takes awhile, but its the only way to insure a good download at the speed of my connection.

That's good to know. I may try that myself (when I get the time). For other distros & BSD, since I already have a PCBSD 7.1 DVD.
By-the-way, kendo..how did you get dialup to work in PCBSD 7.1?
I tried,..but couldn't find any way to set up a dialup connection.

I assume you use KDE???? Then use KPPP.

..that seemed to be the problem. KPPP in PCBSD 7.1 just doesn't seem to be "complete". Here's a thread from the PCBSD forum that is describing the same situation:
http://forums.pcbsd.org/viewtopic.ph...=14662&p=83920
...I'll give it another try, but I've not been able to get KPPP to connect to the internet in PCBSD 7.1. (BTW, I have an external Robotics modem that works well in many other Linux distros). It's not one of those "winmodems" by any means. I am using it right now in Debian. Maybe PCBSD 8.0 will be different. I'm going to try it, when it comes out.

For the CD: ask a friend to help.

For the PPP problem: search the freebsd network mailing lists, other mailing lists, and use google.com/bsd
