Can't change to root

I installed a FreeBSD 10 box in a data centre over the weekend. I added some users and also set the root password. So now I am back 150 miles from the data centre. I can ssh to the box and login but I am not allowed to su to root. I just get the "sorry" message. When installing other *NIXES this isn't a problem. I didn't add anyone to the wheel group or anything. I just did a basic install and then figured I'd be able to do all the other stuff (install packages, etc.) remotely.

Is there a way to get to root if I know the root password? Also sudo doesn't seem to be installed by default.

Thanks for any assistance.

Yes:

$ su -
su: Sorry
$ su

So I have a normal user login and I have the root password and I can't do any admin work remotely. Is this a feature of FreeBSD?

Unless you have some sort of remote console access, I think you're SOL.

Yes. Its been awhile since I've played with FreeBSD but you need to add your user to the wheel group in order to use su.

Yup. The regular user needs to be a member of wheel.
