No word of whether or not this is a *BSD-only problem, bit at least it tagged SCO Open Server(!)

Very interesting. I am curious as well as to whether other OS's are affected by this.

This problem is chip related and not OS related. Theoretically, any mutli-user OS running on these chips would have the same issue. Even single user OSs have the same problem but, since they are for one user, information disclosure on those systems is a non concern.

It's been patched... BTW... just grab the latest patchset for FreeBSD and rebuild. I haven't checked for NetBSD... but it probably has been fixed there as well.

None of my machines even have hardware which could be exploited so I am in no rush to rebuild parts of them today.
