Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) is a Linux kernel virtualization infrastructure. KVM is a full virtualization solution for Linux on x86 hardware containing virtualization extensions Intel VT (vmx) or AMD-V (svm). KVM also requires a modified QEMU although work is underway to get the required changes upstream.

For ages Flash has failed to work properly for me when embedded in Konqueror on my Arch Linux system. It would start to load, look as if it was buffering, but not play, and meanwhile that tab or instance of Konqueror would be eating CPU.
Today I found a fix, as detailed by Mike Arthur.
Install kmplayer. I'm currently running kdemod3, and I had to install kdemod3-kmplayer from AUR, which I accomplished by running
yaourt -S kdemod3-kmplayer

VMware Inc. released an OpenSource version of their VMware-Tools, called open-vm-tools. While they’re quite easy to install on Gentoo (emerge open-vm-tools), it’s not that easy having them installed on a Debian Etch (4.0) if you want to go the proper way.

The Linux Kernel offers you something that allows you to recover your system from a crash or at the least lets you to perform a proper shutdown using the Magic SysRq Keys. The magic SysRq key is a select key combination in the Linux kernel which allows the user to perform various low level commands regardless of the system’s state using the SysRq key.

hai
once i ran kde in gnome it worked nicely
but next time i entered KDE the gnome panel was under my KDE panel how can i getred of the gnome panel i cant just remove the panel

Hi there,
I have a working Mandriva Free 2008.1 distribution and want to update glibc.
My current version is 2.7-12.
The Software Manager did not find glibc as an independent package.
I have downloaded version 2.18.0. ./configure, make, make install work without any errors but rmp -q glibc returns the older version.
I have tried searching for an RMP package of glibc but till now I did not find it.
Any ideas?

i,
i installed VMware player on WinXP , now i am running fedora 8 image using vmware player.
I want to access linux drives in windows so that i can map these linux derive in windows using map network drive.
How to enable samba , what are the steps for this please let me know.
I do not know how to use samba?
After installing vmware i can see two network connection named "vmware Network adapter".
Timely help would be appreciated.

I had been troubled for long by my Ubuntu server not uploading files with scp or rsync properly. The transfers would hang at a little bit over 2MB, and never proceed from there. I asked on the Ubuntu forums about this, and yesterday received a fix suggestion that worked for me. The fix entails adding lines to /etc/sysctl.conf that change the default net and IPv4 behaviour, like so:
