New addition to the Hardware Graveyard!
By Charred at 2005-12-24 17:31
A new laptop has been added to the Hardware Graveyard, a Toshiba Sattelite Pro 490XCDT (PII 266, 64 megs RAM, 6gig HD).

Exorcising the demons of Win(98) has been a pain, as I wanted to try various distros (other than Slackware) on it; but the dang computer is selective about which cd's it will actually boot from. Apparently, it has something to do with whether or not vmlinuz was bzipped, and/or how large the file is.

So, I finally gave up and installed Slackware.

Now I'm trying to get X configed so it doesn't look like CRAP; I've made a little progress, we'll see what happens.

I'd like to thank the Academy for this honor...
