Kernel (uname -r): 2.4.22
Distribution: Slackware 9.1

Plug it in
$ modprobe joydev
You are in business. As long as you have a 2.4.x or greater kernel, joystick support is in there automagically, so you are good to go. Otherwise you need to install joystick support.

I have the EMS USB 2, I plugged my Madcatz pad into it, plugged it in, ran that command in the shell, started StepMania, attempted to map it and nothing...maybe you could help. It worked fine in windows and I made my complete switch to linux. Hoping to get it working. -Eric
