Works superbly with linux.
Some people don't realize that this will only run i586 or lower, though.
So a no go for i686 distros.

I'm having enormous trouble (compiler errors, kernels that oops and panic) building kernels on the system; the sig11 faq (http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/) suggests that the processor may be at fault. Anyone know anything about this?

AMD K6-2 400MHz, been working just fine so far.

Earlier AMD CPUs (namely the K6-2 and some of the earliest Athlons) have a problem with the HLT instruction that makes any 2.4 kernel panic at boot up (when checking the HLT instruction). Pass the no-hlt parameter to the kernel at boot prompt (and in lilo.conf in case you install lilo) and it works perfectly. (Verified on AMD K6-2/500 MHz machine)
