Description: P2 366 MHz laptop with 14 inch display and internal ESS soundcard. ATI video card. 64Mb internal memory plus maximum 128Mb SODIMM.

Stock install of Redhat 8 or Redhat 9 results in everything working except sound, and the sound needs a lot of work before you get anything from the speakers.

Install of Fedora Core 1 gives the above sound problems (fixable) plus I haven't managed to get my DFE-680 network card working (not yet fixable)

If anybody wants to get sound working on an Armada then email me at edal@freestart.hu

i'd a problem to recognize the sound card the first time, and after to recognize my wireless card.
At this moment i'd just the cd, and i'm limited on space disk, because i kept win98 because webcam don't work under linux.
It's why i preserve my winpartition and i choose all the package which i installed. I begin with a minimum graphical install, after i install the application i need with their dependances.
i 'd update more one time the system to recognize my ess sound card.
And for this, i desactivate the acpi in the biosn and in the lilo boot.
ALl work well, after i want to do wireless connection and i buy an msi PC54G with a ralink chips. I download the driver from http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com, i compile them after installed libqt and perl and the source code of kernel.
I m happy of the effort and the documentation i find.
hope i can help someone else
