The drive was mounted (manually) within seconds of connecting to an already running system (Hotplug support is enabled in my kernel). I had some problems burning a CD-R but after rebooting, I was able to burn a CD-R without problems.

The CD-RW comes with software for Windows and Mac OS but I was able to get the drive operational *without* any additional software at all. I burned my CD-R using SimpleCDR-X.
