This piece of hardware truly amazed me ever since I started to use Linux few years ago, why?
No setup required, just plug in the digital camera to the usb port and turn it on. A hard disc icon will appear on desktop "Hard Disc (sd1) (not mounted)", just right click on it and select "Mount", the icon description will become "Hard Disc (sda1) mounted at /mnt/removable".
To access the memory card just double click the same icon and Konqueror (if you use KDE) should appear and take you straight to /mnt/removable folder (directory). The images should be stored in "dcim" folder.
Before unpluging the camera make sure to unmount it first using the same steps as when mounting it.
