I'm using this card for something that it was perhaps not intended for
I am using it with a pcmcia to cf adapter on a laptop
The card works, however it gets very hot, especially after being used 4+ hours.
In using this card with an old laptop, IE non CARDBUS, i type the following before inserting the card
modprobe orinoco_cs ignore_cis_vcc=1
and then after inserting the card I start networking with
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start
or
dhcpcd eth0
I believe the 'ignore_cis_vcc=1' is telling the machine to disregarding the fact that this is a 3.3v cf card being used in a 5v pcmcia slot.
I have used it about 3 hours a night for the last 2 months.
In the slackware /etc/pcmcia/config file, there is default the card is listed, so there is some sort of default support for the device. Perhaps with CARDBUS using laptops ?
