Kernel (uname -r):
Distribution:

With the 2.6.7 kernel for Fedora this worked out of the box with some restrictions. It will no longer be supported because of a dispute between the kernel developers and the maintainer of the device driver. It's a shame.

The Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 is supposed to be compatible by now (it's based on a Philips chipset). Luc Saillard took over the PWC project:

http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/

Personnaly, I can make video with it, but not yet sound :o(
I installed Linux 2.6.9 to have these (not yet very good) results. See:

http://www.linux-sxs.org/hardware/pwc.html

I'll keep on trying, maybe I can have it really work some day...

Cheers,
Sylvain.

The camera worked with the (new) pwc kernel module from Luc Saillard (http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/) No kernel recompile required.
This webcam has by far the best resolution and picture quality of all the webcams I've tried.

This camera works great with the pwc kernel module, found in most up-to-date modern distributions. I recommend using camorama (http://camorama.fixedgear.org/) or Skype for Linux 2.0 with this webcam. :)
