3d driver is not included with the linux kernel by default. This is a major pain in the ass when you want to play Quake. SuSE were nice enough and included the drivers in their update program. But even that driver works so-so.

I had to change the xfree libGL.so and libGL.so.1 sym links to point to the nVidia ones to get rid of an error mesage that OpenGL apps were haveing, "Couldn't locate "GLX" visual" or something like that...Using the 1.0.5336 drivers from NVIDIA. [I'm at school right now, so I'll probibly edit this when I get home]

Kernel (uname -r): Some version of 2.4
Distribution: Knoppix

Both Knoppix and Redhat do not have drivers which take advantage of the 128 megs of ram on this card. In addition, with both of those drivers, I could never get OpenGL support.

However, I downloaded the drivers from the Nvidia website and installed them without any problem. On Redhat it was easy to shutdown the Xserver by changing init level to 3. However, in Knoppix I could not figure out how to kill the Xserver. Eventually, I ended up messing up the config file and hitting Control-Backspace. That killed X and I was able to install it no problem.

Worked fine on install.

Installing nVidia's drivers was child's play, even though I have still to notice an increase in performance. But as for compatibility, it works perfectly.

Works 100% perfect after installing drivers from nVidia. No problems whatsoever were noticed. Performance in Quake3 and UnrealTournament2k3 was actally much better on this card under Linux then under WinXP. Highly recommend.

Decent 3d performance. Plays RtCW and ET faster than the same card in windows. Twinview TV-Out works great as I can play video on one screen while working on the other.

Great card, realised that it was slow under Tux Racer (not a serious gamer). Upgraded driver, now it's great!
