Description: This card uses the 3c59x module.

There are two version of this card (3c590-COMBO and 3c590-TPO) in the EtherLink III Family of 10Mbps PCI adapters. Both adapters are identical, they differ only on the type of external connections.

External Connections:

1 - 10BaseT (RJ-45/Twisted Pair); both COMBO and TPO.
1 - 10Base2 (BNC/Thin Coax); COMBO only.
1 - 10Base5 (AUI/Thick Coax); COMBO only.

Internal Connetions:

1 - 32 bit PCI 2.1 (Bus master expansion slot only)
1 - Boot PROM socket, accepts 8k, 16k, 32k, and 64k ROMs.

Network Interface:

3C590-TPO - Ethernet IEEE802.3i 10BASE-T industry standard for a 10 Mbps baseband CSMA/CD local area network.

3C590-COMBO - Ethernet IEEE802.3i 10BASE-T and Ethernet IEEE802.3 industry standard for a 10 Mbps baseband CSMA/CD local area network.

Second hand 3Com 59x cards are fairly cheap these days. They have been supported by the Linux kernel for a long time and de compatibility is excellent.
