I have on my laptop acer Aspire 2000 a video card Ati Mobility Radeon 9200 and it work well on linux using the driver that you can find at:

http://ati.com/support/drivers/linux/radeon-linux.html?type=linux&prodType=graphic&prod=productsLINUXdriver&submit.x=18&submit.y=0

You install it and than for create the XF86Config-4 file just use.
