Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.8-2-386
Distribution: Debian sarge 3.1

I found this box behind a dumpster in Calgary Alberta. It's a Packard Bell Axcel 4630. I added a 40GB western digital hd,a $15 wal-mart special network card, an ATI Radeon 7000, and a 17" pure flat monitor.I also overclocked the cpu to 133 Mhz. I tried several other distros, all had problems writing to the hard drive. Some failed installing the base, others couldn't write fdisk changes. Debian Sarge finally installed on the fourth try, after failing the first three times to install the base system. It's now running xfce4 as well as can be expected. At boot I noticed no errors(there's actually time to read it then -- no need to read the log) other than some drivers for non-existant hardware failing.
