The soundcard is detected during install and SUSE installs the emu driver.
There are "system sounds" (when starting and closing the system) from the card (probably wave), but somehow the emu driver is not loaded or working completely. Not all sound applications can be started. I'll look further into that when it bothers me enough.

I have never had any problems with this card since I got it 4years ago. It has ran on RH8, RH9, Mdk9.1, and now Mdk9.2rc2. I even had an SB Audigy card in the same computer as this card and both worked nicely, you just had to pick which one you wanted to use. I gave up the audigy card to my little brother though so it is just back to the trusty SB Live.

Using ALSA with this card is just amazing. It performs quite good, has very good sound quality. The supplied drivers in the 2.6.x kernels still requires that you either:
Have had another installation of ALSA to take care about the devices under /dev/.
Download (pretty much any version of) the ALSA drivers so you can execute such command (./sddevices), and have your devices created.
In any case you must download and install (again pretty much any version) of the ALSA utilities package, since it will install the alsamixer, with which you won't need to recure to some esoteric initialization file editting, you just run the program and unmute the channels you want to use.

ironically, i couldnt get it to run correctly under ANY windows os, turns out that its windows drivers tend to be a bit flakey due to compatability issues in the way windows handles hardware. The tech support actually suggested i run the cards under linux, where
"They are basically guaranteed to run well and be autodetected"
No extra set up required with this distro. All 5.1 speakers work out of the box.
Got the card over two years back at an expensive price for the time. But worth every paisa.

I gave it a 7 because it gets detected fine and loads the driver except i cant hear any sound! I have no idea what the problem is (prob some setting) !

I fought this card for about 3 days, then compiled a custom 2.6.6 kernel (sound supported as a module, no alsa or oss) then installed alsa 1.0.5a. Now it sounds excellent.

Well, it worked flawlessly in Slack 9.1. But in 10 I have to get rid of a very high pitched noise by running alsaconf on every bootup to get it to work.
